Hailing from the vibrant music scene of the San Francisco Bay Area, SPEKRFREKS are back with their their remix of “The Window Song” by Full Tilt Collective on Ragtime Records.

Originally featured on Full Tilt Collective’s EP “Raise the Roof,” released in May 2023 on Ragtime Records, the album embodies themes of perseverance amidst chaos. Hindered by Covid lockdowns, the band’s journey to recording this EP was fraught with challenges, including a tumultuous studio session coinciding with Storm Eunice, one of the UK’s most powerful storms in thirty years. Despite adversity, Full Tilt Collective pushed through, their experiences shaping the EP’s dynamic tracks.

‘The Window Song’ is a bombastic, gypsy-punk oddity fusing klezmer and ska with wild Balkan brass. SPEKRFREKS inject their signature flair into the mix, embracing the original’s chaos and tempo shifts to craft a unique, high-energy masterpiece blending Hard Dance, Breakbeat, and DnB. Think Dance Dance Revolution meets klezmer and wild Balkan Brass.

SPEKRFREKS

SPEKRFREKS (pronounced speaker freaks) come from San Francisco, CA. Musical collaborators since high school, this duo got their jump-start after being signed to remix Deadmau5 and Melleefresh in 2010, and helping to pioneer a popular Electro House sound. In 2013 they combined their love of 1920s Swing Music with hard-hitting Bass House and Glitch Hop using live instruments combined with electronic productions. Since then they have released numerous albums and singles, including landing several releases at the top of the Beatport charts.

FTC’s music blends diverse influences—funk, soul, reggae, ska, hip hop, afrobeat, and drum and bass—creating an original, captivating sound that solidifies their presence in the UK’s alternative scene. Though they enjoy studio time, Full Tilt Collective’s heart lies in live performances. They frequently rock venues like Rich Mix, Boxxed Birmingham, and The Vaults, plus festivals like Isle of Wight and Moovin. Their energetic shows break the barrier between band and audience, with members often joining spectators, reminiscent of New Orleans’ second line marching bands.
