Diga Diga Doo

Once upon a time in 2012, amidst the digital symphony of sounds, Duke stumbled upon a musical gem that rewired his entire sonic universe. “Why Don’t You” by Gramophonedzie blasted through my headphones, a magnetic fusion of past and present – Electro Swing. He was spellbound. The realms of swing and house collided, birthing a genre that resonated with his soul, a revelation that transcended time.

As an electronic musician, entranced by swing’s revival in the 90s, this collision was an epiphany. Swing and house entwined, creating an auditory magic carpet ride. Little did he know, that moment was the genesis of his alter ego, Duke Skellington.

Years passed, and the echo of “Why Don’t You” remained unmatched. That spark, that essence, lay dormant, waiting to be reignited. And then came “Diga Diga Doo,” Duke’s homage to the unparalleled masterpiece. Imagine female vocals swinging in harmony with trumpets, riding atop a bouncy house beat – an electrifying marriage of eras.

In my creation, I pay homage to the elements that enchanted me in ‘Why Don’t You.’  The swinging horns, the infectious rhythm, sultry vintage vocals and the pulsating beats converge in a symphony that resurrects the essence of Swing House. As I ventured into the depths of YouTube’s comments for Gramophonedzie’s track, a unified outcry echoed: “Why isn’t there music like this anymore?”

Fear not, for Duke Skellington has emerged to answer that call. Swing House isn’t a relic of the past; it’s a vibrant heartbeat waiting to be rediscovered. With “Diga Diga Doo,” Duke is a torchbearer, reigniting the fervor for a genre that defies time and celebrates the marriage of two musical epochs.

In the world where echoes of the past meet the rhythms of the future, Duke Skellington stands firm, a testament to the resilience and timelessness of Swing House.

Swing House isn’t dead. It’s alive, and like your favorite Speakeasy.   You can only get inside if you know the secret code.
