Crime of the Century

Twin Mono, aka Chris Holmes, has lived a dual musical life. Born and bred as a trombonist, he has toured, gigged and sessioned up and down the length of the country and across Europe in just about every style of music you can think of. But he’s also a drum and bass man, getting his first break releasing on Roni Size’s legendary Full Cycle label in 2018.

His tracks are made for the dance floor, but often feature his own playing to give things a jazzy and melodic twist. Nowhere can this be heard better than on the lead track for this release: Crime of the Century.

Telling the story of a bank heist gone good, it reverberates with overlapping trombone harmonies, giving way to an up-front drop to get the chest plates rattling.

The second track, Natural Girl, sees Twin Mono digging in the crates, bringing some of that gritty vinyl vibe to produce another brassy banger.

The release ends with Sundown, a liquid roller led by melodic keys and backed by jazzman drums to chill the listener out, ready to do it all again!
